Rachel holds a Bachelor of Music from Oral Roberts University (O.R.U.) where she was the recipient of scholarships in Piano and Music Composition. She also holds a Master of Arts in Teaching English as a Second Language from O.R.U. Rachel began taking piano lessons from her Mother when she was 5 years old and continued off and on finally deciding to take consistent lessons at age 11. As a teenager, she began composing classically based music and took up Jazz Improvisation. In the past 15+ years, Rachel has enjoyed playing in many environments including theater, church, weddings, banquets and accompanying students in schools.
As a teacher, Rachel enjoys helping students find their niche in music whether that is Popular Music (such as Disney), Blues/ Jazz Improvisation, Classical Music or Competitions. She is a teacher who loves making music fun as she teaches students how to pay attention to what they are hearing in order to produce the sounds appropriate for each piece. She also introduces music history to help students understand musical context. Rachel teaches students at any level from beginning to advanced. She is a part of the Music Teacher’s National Association; Colorado Music Teacher’s Association; and Aurora Music Teacher’s Association.
